Hello, I am pleased that my post prompted clarity on your part about what really needs to happen for education to move forward. This is something that I'm struggling with as an educator and you are absolutely correct: we as a community must provide access to the technology for a new model to evolve. Appreciate the plug for Edcampto. All voices are needed in this conversation!

Yes indeed - I will post the presentation this weekend - just have a few minor tweaks to make.
Some of the Facebook taboos that I like to warn against include:
- being boring: duplicating website content on Facebook pages without any interactivity
- updating too often: since your updates go into your "fans'" newsfeed, be choosy and update only when you have something to say (once or twice a day)
- cross-posting content from Twitter or other sites, because automatic updates are really lazy marketing and add no value to your fans.

I'll get that up as soon as I can! :)0

Hi Aerin,
Thanks for the workshop last night. I know that we were running out of time, so we didn't get to the 'taboos of facebook'. Can you comment on this?
Thanks,
Deb Trand

"Most billing is done on a “capped” basis – ie you get a certain amount of data per month and are either cut off or pay more to use more"

That has also been the case in Canada for years. I was cut off from my cable ISP 3 years ago for using more then 100GB of data in a month.

Caps on internet is not new in Canada. It its not being introduced with the recent ubb decision.

We have much better plans then these described in South Africa because we have more competition.

Lack of competition is the barrier to cheaper internet, not specific usage based or speed limited plans.
